What Happens Next
We get in touch. We'll confirm what you're seeing and where the house is.
You get a free inspection. Someone measures floor heights through the house and looks at the outside: the brick, the drainage and the slab edge. It's the only way to know whether the movement is normal for this soil.
You get the findings in writing. If repair is needed, that report is what an engineer works from, and what the City of Garland needs for the permit. If repair isn't needed, you'll have a measured baseline to compare against next year.
Plenty of people stop after step three, and that's a perfectly good outcome.
Before You Send
You don't need to know what's wrong. Describing it in plain words is enough. "The back door started sticking in August" tells us more than a guess about piers.
Two things help, if you have them:
